It’s the season of giving and Dr. Dre is the latest celebrity to take on the Feed Your City Challenge. The food giveaway event took place in Compton this weekend.
Dre released a statement about his involvement ahead of the food giveaway and why he chose to participate. “Unity is within us all. By us working together we can serve the underserved,” the Hip-Hop mogul said. “Thanksgiving is a special time to bring people together; people shouldn’t have to worry about how they’re going to feed their family for the holidays, so we accepted the challenge from Tony Draper and his team to generate that unity for Compton during these difficult times.”
The Feed Your City Challenge was founded by music industry legend Tony Draper and retired NBA star Ricky Davis as a response to the COVID-19 crisis, that has left millions of Americans out of work and more than 10 million Americans have tested positive for the virus.
The Compton event was the tenth stop of the nationwide campaign that has enlisted some of the industry’s biggest stars to help feed their cities.
