Safe to say, Roddy Ricch exploded to rap superstardom on his own terms. In just a few years, the Compton rapper has two No. 1 singles, a multi-platinum album, and became GRAMMY nominated.
Roddy Ricch is the latest artist to cover Complex digital cover and the first guest on GOAT Talk, a new show where we ask todayās greats to crown their all-time greats. The 22-year-old reveals his picks for the GOAT album, musician, sneaker, movie, athlete, sneaker, car, and more.
In the interview, Roddy explains how he’s always been a lay-low guy who’s here to do music. āI aināt never been no internet n***a,ā he says. āItās so weird to me,ā he says later, laughing about the surreal experience of actually using Instagram Live as a celebrity. āIām looking at myself while Iām talking to people, and I donāt even know who Iām talking to. Itās like Iām talking to myself.ā
āSometimes I want to tell people things, but Iām not the type of person to just talk into a camera,ā he adds. āSo Iāll say things, and itāll almost be like a poem that I can share with people. It may never come out, but Iām just expressing myself. I donāt talk to people through a phone. Youāve always known me to communicate through music, so why should I have to communicate through a live video with you?ā
