Jansport J Reminds Us Of The Soul In Los Angeles

The grammy-nominated producer, Jansport J ended the month of September with one of the best instrumental albums of 2022, Los Angeles Soul

Jansport took to Instagram and said the album was inspired by LA nostalgia. The nostalgia is felt throughout the album with samples in songs such as “Show Love (And)”, “Soon Enough”, and “Los Angeles Soul”.

The dialogues in the album build a larger charm, bringing dedication and love to different generations.

In the second track, “Chalice Drive:, we hear Hit-Boy share with Bootleg Kev his admiration for Jansport’s sample production.

In songs “Vegas Glo” and “Ruby”, Jansport makes dedications to his family. The Covina producer tells us on twitter that the voice in “Ruby” is from his late grandmother.

With this project, Jansport shows us how music expresses much more than words alone. Most notably in “Believed”, where the track begins with a question for Jansport on advice to younger producers. We don’t hear Jansport’s vocal response but through the track we hear the support and dedication Jansport gives the younger generation.

At the center of this album, lies the soulful sound of Los Angeles’ past, present, and future. Listen below.
