Halloween is months away, but that’s not an issue for Doja Cat, who recently announced a frightening new album and single.
On Tuesday (Aug. 29), the Los Angeles singer shared a haunting new video promoting her latest single titled Demons, which was followed by a post showcasing the cover art for her upcoming album Scarlet. The video and album cover draw significant inspiration from the aesthetics and themes of popular horror movies, such as Poltergeist, reinforcing the direction of her new and ominous artistic style.
The single Demons is set to release on Sep. 1, followed by the album, which drops on Sep. 22. A month later on Halloween, Doja Cat along with Ice Spice and Doechii, will kick off the tour featuring her new music at the Chase Center in San Francisco. Click here for a complete list of the tour dates.
Despite recent controversies, Doja Cat is experiencing a great year. Earlier this year, she was awarded Songwriter Of The Year at the 2023 Broadcast Music Inc. (BMI) Awards, despite her description of her music as “mediocre pop” promising a new, more creative sound not meant for the masses. She fulfilled that promise with her new single Paint The Town Red, which earned the singer ownership of the first solo female rap song to reach #1 in U.S. Spotify history.
