Diddy has enjoyed a career that spans decades and includes some of the most prolific names in the rap game. His ability to adapt to the constant evolution of music and his entrepreneurial spirit has made him one of the most successful people in the music industry. Now, he’s using that success to give back to his community.

On Sunday (Aug. 27), the rap mogul, who is an HBCU graduate, presented a $1 million dollar donation from the Sean Combs Foundation to the Jackson State University football team during one of their games, fulfilling a promise he made at last year’s BET awards.

“If it wasn’t for HBCU’s I wouldn’t be here,” Diddy told ESPN in an interview. “And really just supporting HBCU’s is not just my honor. It’s my responsibility.”

Diddy then told the interviewers that his grandmother taught him to “sow his seed in his community,” something he plans on continuing to do. Proving that actions are better than words, Diddy visited the Invest Festival on Tuesday (Aug. 29), where he donated another $1 million dollars to Earn Your Leisure, a Black-owned financial literacy fund.

“We’re leading by example, we’re showing the people what we’re talking about” Diddy said in a video he posted on Instagram. “We’re talking about investing in each other, so it was important that we came out and showed people you can do it.”

Diddy was recently named one of the top 50 hip-hop executives of all time by Variety and this week he proved why.
