While creating his debut project NewDre, Beat Boy connected with fellow West L.A. native Westside Stew for “Walk In ‘Em”.
The song will inevitably be played for years to come as it serves as new age walking music for a certain side of the L.A.’s gang culture. Stew declares “Diors look like Chucks, watch me walk in ’em” over Beat Boy’s opulent, G-Funk adjacent production.
During the 90’s, L.A. artists from the blue side of the culture wore the iconic blue Chuck Taylor Converse while they did their dance. In 2020, L.A.’s gang culture has evolved and the days of blue chucks and matching dickie suits have been replaced by designer khaki two-pieces and Dior B23’s which closely resemble the classic Chuck Taylor silhouette. This Outkast Marcoss directed visual depicts just that, Westside Stew is shown walking in his designer khaki two-piece as he meets Beat Boy and they have a walk off in Dior’s.
