Jul 28, 2023 ,

Corbin Butler is just getting started and there’s nothing that can stop him.

The Chino Hills native returns today with a brand new album called “N.O.T”. The project features 11 original songs produced, mixed and mastered by Corbin himself, with guest features from Brandon Stewart, B0, Akeem Mimiko, and Prince Kumasi.

Corbin explained that the title “N.O.T” stands for “Nation of Thinkers,” representing the mindset of the people he associates with. Whether they are turning up or relaxing, they all embody a thoughtful approach to life.

The album perfectly embodies this mindset and philosophy, reflecting their collective pursuit of higher knowledge and understanding.

This album offers a little bit of everything for everyone. With Corbin pulling inspiration from his diverse mix of music in his phone’s playlist, it effortlessly blends various genres, including R&B, Hip-Hop, Neo Soul, House, Afrobeats, and Funk. With his authentic storytelling rap flair, Butler skillfully weaves together a unique musical experience that can appeal to a wide audience.

In his clever and witty track “Dunder Mifflin,” Butler delivers fire catchy bars that we thought could resonate with listeners and offer clever metaphors perfect for any conversation and Instagram-worthy captions making it relatable and shareable content. Let’s break down a few.

“Me and my money Martin Gina we too tight”

The rapper is using characters from the hit show “Martin” (Martin Payne and Gina Waters) to describe the close relationship between himself and his money. Martin and Gina were a couple on the show, known for their strong bond and tight-knit relationship. The rapper is implying that he and his money are inseparable, just like the characters on the TV show.

“Big stepping with the purple, like a Omega”

This metaphor is used to compare the confident and dominant demeanor associated with Omega Psi Phi, a historically Black fraternity known for its distinctive purple and gold colors. Butler is expressing a sense of power, pride, and brotherhood with this line.

“I should work at Dunder Mifflin cause I’m into paper”

This one’s for “The Office” fans. Dunder Mifflin is a fictional paper company in hit show “The Office” the reference is about Butler being focused on his “paper” which in rap culture means “money”. Just like the company’s business is centered around paper products, it’s a creative way to express your financial aspirations or success.

In the line “Getting rich like Rody,” Butler is making a clever reference to both his desire for financial success and the rapper Roddy Rich’s stage name.

“I done handed off the baton they barely ran”

This line suggests the rapper has achieved a significant feat and passed it on to others, but they didn’t make the most of it (barely ran). It implies  Butler’s accomplishments surpassed those who followed or tried to, highlighting his success and dominance in his field.

“b*itch more bad, I feel like A$AP Rocky”

this lyric carries an air of pride and admiration for his partner, with Rihanna being a “bad b*

This draws parallels between their relationship and the high-profile romance of Rihanna and A$AP Rocky.

“I been serving up heat like DoorDash”

By saying he’s “serving up heat like DoorDash,” he’s emphasizing that his music is hot and in-demand, just like the fast and reliable food delivery service.

“I was up at the Dime, going up to Chubb E .Swagg” if you’re a fan of both the Dime on Fairfax and resident dj DJ Chubb E. Swagg this is the perfect bar for you to pay homage too for both.

Were those some catchy bars with relatable metaphors or what? Let us know if you caught any more catchy phrases in the song and take a listen to the full album.

Corbin Butler is definitely a rising start to be on the lookout for.
