Telling harrowing stories through his detail-rich reality raps, Doley Bernays emphasizes the desperation of day-to-day neighborhood life.
Heading to one of hip-hop’s most historic neighborhoods, Doley shares the video for “Sugar Hill.”
In the video, Doley and a friend share a deep conversation about escaping the hood–his friend was a talented basketball player who couldn’t put it all together–before taking his Benz to an enclosed basketball court to sip Moet and count cash.
Produced by L.A. sound architect Beat Boy, “Sugar Hill” layers sinister synth stabs with ominous pianos and crisp handclaps, “Sugar Hill” finds Doley expressing his desire to earn enough money to make his homies rich and “turn the block to Sugar Hill.”
“Sugar Hill” is a standout single from The Lobby Tape (Side A), Doley’s acclaimed new project.
