Kendrick Lamarā€™s announcement in 2021 of stepping away from the TDE label had fans in a shock, but the Compton rapperā€™s recent announcement of pgLangā€™s big move had fans feeling a little more excited.

On Jan. 13 the rapperā€™s co-founded company pgLang announced that Kendrick Lamar and business partner Dave Free will be producing their first comedy film through Paramount+ streaming platform.

The untitled comedy film will tag Matt Stone and Trey Park, who produce the adult sitcom, ā€˜South Park,’ as producers. It will also be written by comedian Vernon Chatman, who plays characters for South Park.

The press release expressed that the film will be based on a young Black man finding out that his girlfriendā€™s family line owned his ancestors.

pgLangā€™s first comedy film will begin shooting in Spring 2022.
