Kendrick Lamar Defines HiiiPower & Having a Vision of Tupac

Kendrick Lamar delivered his debut studio album Section.80, seven years ago on July 2, 2011.

This is the project put the Compton emcee on the map with guest features from GLC, Colin Munroe, Ashtrobot, BJ the Chicago Kid, Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul and vocals from late singer-songwriter Alori Joh.

Since then, we’ve seen the Top Dawg Entertainment member win GRAMMY’s, become the first non-jazz or classical artist to ever win a Pulitzer Prize, and co-produced the platinum Black Panther: The Album, amongst many other things.

In honor of Section.80 dropping seven years ago today, we wanted to share one of the first interviews Home Grown Radio did with K Dot. In the clip, the young King Kunta goes in-depth about what HiiiPower really means and having a vision of Tupac Shakur.

Check out our Kendrick Lamar and Home Grown video above.
