Time Magazine’s list of 100 Most Influential People of 2024 includes actors, politicians, and athletes, but only one rapper: 21 Savage. The Atlanta artist is the first rapper to be featured on the list since Lil Nas X was included in 2021.

In a short paragraph that detailed why 21 Savage was chosen, grammy-winning artist Burna Boy reflected on 21’s journey, authenticity, and artistic skill.

“I trust my gut when it comes to my music and collaborations, and I find myself naturally drawn to artists like 21 Savage,” Burna Boy said. “Those who remain grounded in their convictions and consistently defy the constraints imposed upon them.”

Time Magazine chooses people for the list based on their previous 12 months of time, which for 21 Savage includes a range of accomplishments.

First, 21 Savage co-headlined the record-breaking It’s All A Blur Tour alongside Drake, which grossed over $100 million across North America. Then, he performed with Burna Boy at the 66th Annual Grammy Awards show in 2024, where he was nominated for five awards, but took none home.

Now, he’s dropped his third studio album, American Dreams, after releasing a string of singles in 2023 and even a fake movie trailer for the album starring Childish Gambino and Caleb McLaughlin

We’re almost halfway through 2024, and this year is already shaping up to be another big one for 21 Savage.
