Just after making history as the youngest Presidential Inauguration poet, Amanda Gorman is now headed to the Super Bowl.
The 22-year-old Los Angele native will perform an original poem before the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers face off during SuperBowl LV on Sunday, February 7th.
Her poem will honor the heroes that the NFL has enlisted as honorary captains for their service throughout the pandemic. NFL Commissioner, Roger Goodell announced that Trimaine Davis, an educator, Suzie Dorner, a nurse, and James Martin, a Marine veteran have all been tapped to represent the league’s message of “it takes all of us.”
Amanda spoke about the upcoming event and said she’s “humbled to be the first poet to perform at the Super Bowl!”
Congratulations Amanda Gorman, we can’t wait to see another incredible spoken word from you!
