In 1996, the world came to a complete stop when beloved rapper Tupac Shakur was shot on September 7 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tupac unfortunately died in the hospital six days later and like many of our fallen hip-hop heroes, no one was ever arrested and his case was left hanging in the balance, never to be solved.

Now, nearly three decades later, his investigation appears to be getting another look with new developments.

On Monday, July 17 at approximately 10 p.m., the Las Vegas Metro Police Department searched a home in Henderson, Nevada in the long-dormant murder case of the late rapper. According to ABC News, Las Vegas homicide detectives and prosecutors determined that they had enough viable information to proceed with the search. “LVMPD can confirm that a search warrant was served in Henderson, Nevada on July 17, 2023, as part of the ongoing Tupac Shakur homicide investigation. We will have no further comment at this time”, said LVMPD in a statement.

With Las Vegas Metro PD present, the scene can be described as loud, with bull horns and lights warning people to come out with their hands up. The evidence retrieved from the LV home were computers, laptops, and articles about Tupac and his death, and are now being presented to a Las Vegas grand jury.

As of now, there are no charges being filed, however, investigators do believe this investigation could determine who the second man in the vehicle was when shots were fired, leading to an accomplice charge.
