Hip hop icon Lil’ Kim is gearing up to release her long-awaited memoir, “The Queen Bee,” with pre-sales expectations soaring high.

In a recent Instagram Live session on Thursday, November 9, the rap legend addressed her fans about the delays and hinted at a significant buzz surrounding the book’s release. Kim made a bold statement, predicting that the memoir’s pre-sales might even surpass those of the Bible.

According to the Guinness World Records, the Bible is recognized as the best-selling book of all time, with an estimated five to seven billion copies sold globally.

Kim expressed her frustration with the publishing process during the livestream, cautioning about the pitfalls of dealing with book companies. Despite these challenges, her optimism about the book’s success is palpable. “It’s some crazy s**t going on behind the scenes,” she said. “You have to be really careful when you deal with these book companies because they try to take advantage of you. You know, I’m a little Black woman.”

“The Queen Bee,” announced initially in 2021, is set to be a candid and fearless look into the life and career of one of hip hop’s most influential figures. From her roots in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, to her ascent as a solo icon, the book promises an in-depth exploration of Kim’s journey, including her time with The Notorious B.I.G. and her trailblazing impact on women in hip hop.

The 288-page memoir, co-written with music journalist Kathy Iandoli, is expected to release in March 2024. It’s not just a recount of Kim’s illustrious career; it also delves into her personal life, including her complex relationships, battles against industry misogyny through sex positivity, and the self-image challenges she faced in the spotlight. A significant focus is her relationship with The Notorious B.I.G., shedding light on aspects of her life that have remained largely private.

Thanking her fans for their patience, Kim tweeted earlier about the completion of the memoir, expressing gratitude to Marc Jacobs for writing the forward. The book is set to cover everything from her early life and influence on the hip hop scene with Junior M.A.F.I.A. to her groundbreaking solo album, “Hard Core,” released in 1996.
