In the ever-evolving landscape of hip-hop, certain projects stand out as timeless milestones, leaving an indelible mark on both the artist’s career and the genre itself. Isaiah Rashad’s Cilvia Demo is one such project, and as it reaches its 10th anniversary, fans are reminded of how he established himself as a force to be reckoned with in the rap scene.
Released on January 28, 2014, Cilvia Demo marked Isaiah Rashad’s debut extended play, a precursor to his critically acclaimed studio album “The Sun’s Tirade.” The EP showcased Rashad’s introspective lyricism, smooth flows, and a distinctive blend of Southern hip-hop influences. The 14-track project became widely acclaimed by critics, featuring guest appearances from labelmates Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q, and SZA, and has developed a large following since.
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of his TDE debut, Isaiah brought a few classics from the album to life this week during a live performance on the new Spotify series, TEN, which features live renditions of a beloved album to coincide with its 10th year. During this intimate performance, the rapper showcased versions of beloved tracks “Heavenly Father”, “Menthol”, “RIP Kevin Miller”, “Ronnie Drake” and “Shot You Down”.
To keep the party going, Zaywop is taking Cilvia Demo on a nationwide tour. The nine-city tour commenced on Tuesday (January 23) in Anaheim, CA, and will spread across the West Coast, including stops in cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego.
