Last night, Megan Thee Stallion was the recipient of the Catalyst of Change Award by Planned Parenthood of Greater New York at the nonprofitā€™s annual Spring Into Action Gala. Megan received the award for her womenā€™s rights advocacy.

ā€œI just wanna kick this off by saying, my body my business, and I do what I wanna do with it!,ā€ Megan said in her award acceptance speech at the gala. ā€œI know I was placed on this earth to be more than just a musician, and I have a bigger purpose to use my voice to speak out against injustice. Soon, it will be two years since the Supreme Court overturned the constitutional right to abortion. It feels like women have to fight harder than ever to make their own choices regarding their own bodies, families, and futures.ā€

In 2022, Megan launched the Pete and Thomas Foundation in honor of her parents, Joseph Pete Jr. and Holly Thomas. The nonprofit serves women, children, the elderly, and underserved communities through programs in education, housing, health & wellness, and community goodwill.

Before establishing this foundation, Megan provided families in Houston with food for the Thanksgiving holidays, partnered with companies like Amazon to award women with scholarships, outfitted her entire middle school alma mater with back-to-school essentials, and donated money for disaster relief following the 2021 deadly winter storm of Texas. Later that year in December, Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee honored Megan with the 18th Congressional District Humanitarian Award for her work in charity and disaster relief in the aforementioned Texas winter storm.

In 2022, former Houston mayor, Sylvester Turner, awarded Megan the key to the city for her contributions to her community and designated May 2, as Megan Thee Stallion Day in Houston.

Meganā€™s advocacy history shows a dedication to make the world a better place for her community, fans, women, and as a result, everyone else.
