To be truly at peace is something most people long for on a day to day basis. Someone who knows that is Carson native Ab-Soul.
Recently Soul released a beautiful new music video for his song “It Be Like That.” The song is a feature single off of the rapper’s first full-length project in six years, titled Herbert.
The video opens with a scenic shot of fellow TDE artist SIR who is featured on the song. Sir’s melodic sound stays in the background as his image fades away, and Soulo appears rapping. Throughout the entire song he expresses how being in a constant state of depression has changed his relationships, and his life as a whole. “My light ain’t lime no more, my kite don’t fly no more, my woman ain’t mine no more.” As the video goes on the lights darken and you can barely see the rapper showing a state of seclusion due to depression.
Towards the end of the video the scenery around him starts to brighten up and the same lyrics that were stated above turn more positive. “My light look lime again yeah, My kite might fly again, My woman wanna be mine again.” Overall the message of the video is to show the motions of what it looks like as someone working through their depression. ans have expressed how this song in particular is helping them along their journey, and how proud of him they are.
