Just after dropping his second studio album, Before You Go in 2022, Blxst is back!
This past weekend, the Los Angeles native released his latest project, Just For Clarity 2, which is a sequel to his 2021 EP. Composed of four songs, this EP feels as if he’s catching up with fans and giving them an update on his love life. The EP also features special appearances from Mustard, Roddy Rich, and Larry June. Throughout the project, fans are able to hear the theme of understanding and clarification. Each song gives fans a feel of a love letter about emotions of life, rather than being an actual person or an experience.
The first song is “Ghetto Cinderella.” This is a tale of reassurance. Blxst is letting his special someone know, that it doesn’t matter the circumstances in life, his love is forever. With the chorus being, “kept it a hundred from the jump, they could never replace my ghetto Cinderella.”
“Passionate” features Roddy Ricch and with that song, we see the two going back and forth in a state of reflection, looking back on how far they’ve come. Blxst says “and I done put my heart and soul in it, got it out the mud, I promise it’s a cold feeling.” With “Call My Bluff,” Blxst is still trying to convince his ghetto Cinderella that he is loyal, despite what she may hear in the streets.
The last track on the EP is “Keep Calling,” which features Bay Area native, Larry June. This record seems to be a sense of closure for Blxst, as we’ve heard throughout “Ghetto Cinderella” and “Call My Bluff.” In this song, he’s no longer pleading for love and understanding. He’s just focusing on his life and his career. Then Larry June cosigns it by saying, “you did me wrong, I’m done with you…. ten thousand blues what I’m thumbin’ through.”
Overall, Blxst’s Just For Clarity 2 is a definite must listen. Even Blxst’s fans have approved the project.
