Cam Gnarly is back with a brand new and vibrant video for the single, “Too Much.” The video illustrates the well-known feeling of falling out of a relationship. Directed by Victor Hernandez, the video is littered with nostalgia and artistic aesthetics.
From the film reel intro, the video establishes a tone that’s reminiscent of videos on the TRL countdown. The height of this nostalgia hits when Cam is seen dressed as the infamous character, Pierre Escagort, from the mid-90’s classic, “All That.”
Another artistic nod in the video is Cam’s interpretation of the famous “The Lovers” painting by Rene Magritte. The image itself represents the complications of being connected with your partner during intimate times. The cloth representing the distance and discomfort the two are unable to alleviate.
Artistic references and nostalgic memories aside, Cam’s “Too Much” video is a detailed offering of a relationship that didn’t work out. The video follows Cam as he maneuvers through life while trying to keep his sanity and his feelings intact. The video serves an excellent entree for the meal that is Cam’s album, “333Hz”. It introduces Cam as a vulnerable artist dealing with his faults while also maintaining his self-worth.
Earlier this year, Cam dropped his album, 333HZ, which you can listen to here.
