LA music collective ChampionsOnly98 springs forth new material rolling out joints from songstress Mickey Taelor and musical expressionist C, Watts!
Earlier this week Mickey released her new track “Le Noir” (black out) which is a sincere response to Ab-Soul’s “Huey Knew,” (his first solo release of the year). Mickey’s laid back flow and raspy vocals over the jazzed beat administer the perfect vibes to put one in the air. It’s no surprise a sound that smooth and precise for a response to Ab would come from production GENIUS and ChampionsOnly98 head honcho Willie B (if you don’t know who Willie is, do your research big fella).
– OH, and of course “Le Noir” is Black Hippy approved.
The second release from the collective comes from young gifted producer C,Watts, responsible for delivering “Addicted” & “A Million” from his label-mate JAnthny’s Two Sides EP. “Medals” Beat Tape (Silver Edition) is the follow up to Watts’ “Medals” Bronze released last year. Watts continues to illustrate his cleverness of mixing and meshing unique sounds. “Medals” is like a yummy layered cake, more delicious with every bite!
With these new releases and a tenacious team line up, we can’t wait to see what the collective has planned for 2017!
