Dr. Dre Receives ASCAP Hip-Hop Icon Award

From Compton to Long Beach to Inglewood Then To The ASCAP’s. Hip-Hop mogul Dr.Dre continues to remind us of his legendary status as he takes home first-ever ASCAP Hip-Hop Icon Award this past Thursday (June 22) at The London in West Hollywood.

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers held its Rhythm & Soul Music Awards Celebration celebrating 50 Years of Hip-Hop. 

ASCAP honored the Compton native the award not only for his impact in the music industry, but his pivotal role in shaping the culture and the community. Rightfully, Snoop Dogg had the honor of presenting the award to the “icon”.

Dr.Dre has received multitudes of accolades as he is a seven-time Grammy Award Winner, this year the recipient of The Inaugural Dr. Dre Global Impact Award at the 2023 Grammys and he won his first Emmy last year for his halftime show during Super Bowl LVI celebrating the essence of Hip-Hop culture.

During his acceptance speech Dre reminded us that he has been involved with Hip-Hop 40 out of the 50 years it has been around.

Dr. Dre’s success can be used as a blueprint for any one as his entrepreneurship and contributions to the music game continue to soar.
