Today, French Montana released a call to action for the public in partnership with Informed Immigrant, an organization dedicated to providing accessible support for undocumented individuals and families in the United States.
Integral and very personal to his journey, having emigrated from Morocco to New York City at age thirteen, he was young, experiencing culture shock, and undocumented himself until five years ago. It was not until he applied to college that he learned about his lack of documentation and was unable to live out his original dream of becoming a basketball star.
In 2018, Montana finally got sworn in as a U.S. Citizen in New Jersey, but remembers the lengthy process he had to go through to achieve that citizenship. Due to the hurdles he faced, he finds uplifting Informed Immigrant as a mission close to his heart to help support members of the undocumented immigrant community facing similar challenges.
Montana is one of the millions of people facing seemingly impossible barriers and now stands with Informed Immigrant as they offer key resources and information about on-the-ground legal support, mental health resources, and other key services for undocumented individuals and families. By sharing vital information about more than 1,000 organizations, Informed Immigrant has become both a digital hub and offline network offering the most up-to-date and accessible support and guidance for the undocumented immigrant community.
Montana is set to premiere his life story, FOR KHADIJA, on Friday at the Beacon Theatre as part of the Tribeca Film Festival.
