“So many people get addicted to the wrong things”
Hi-Tone Valenz debuts another track + visual from his highly anticipated album on the horizion, Price of Admission.
“Big Cousin” is the 4th single to be liberated from the project, following “Mr. Miyagi,” “The Gossip” & “Voice.” It’s dedicated to the relationship he had with his big cousin, who had a major influence on the rapper we know today. Tone’s very poetic joint is anchored by a sample from the The Stylistics hit single “You Make Me Feel Brand New” (1973) & is extremely well done.
He shared this message (via Instagram) with the track:
“We all have a Big Cousin but this particular Big Cousin was everything to me growing up. I watched his every move when he came over my house and I wanted to be just like him. He eventually pushed me away from gangs and told me to keep rapping. He told me ‘why sell drugs, when I can sell verses’. So I started writing verses for all the homies in his hood. Thank you Big Cousin. Love you Big Cousin.”
“Little cousin, big cousin”
