As the summer heat reaches its peak, the countdown for Hip-Hop 50 Live is building up to a crescendo.
On August 11, the iconic Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York, will be the stage for an unforgettable concert. The show will open up with Run DMC’s “Bottom of the Ninth..The Walk-Off’’ performance with Lil’ Wayne, Snoop Dogg, and Ice Cube with a special guest performance from Wiz Khalifa.
The concert is broken down by themed sets that will take you on a journey through the history of Hip-Hop. The “Bronx Bombers Set” will feature A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Fat Joe, and Kid Capri, while the “Queens of Hip Hop” set will showcase Eve, Lil’ Kim, Remy Ma, and Trina, with live performances by T.I, Cam’Ron, Common, Slick Rick, Lupe Fiasco, plus more. In the “Pillars of Hip-Hop” set, you can catch DJ Kool Herc & Cindy Campbell, Grandmaster Caz, Kurtis Blow, Roxanne Shante, and more.
If you didn’t know, August 11 is the birthday of Hip Hop so this monumental event not only marks the annual birthday celebration but also commemorates an incredible milestone – 50 years of the genre’s cultural impact and the evolution of Hip Hop over the past five decades.
The event will be creatively led by EMMY Award-winner and CEO of BASSic Black Entertainment, Adam Blackstone, who recently served as the musical director for the star-studded halftime show at Super Bowl LVI, alongside partner and producer/keyboardist Omar Edwards, the Musical Director for JAY-Z. Hip-Hop 50 Live at Yankee Stadium is co-produced by Mass Appeal, Live Nation, and the New York Yankees. The lineup promises to be spectacular, with additional acts to be announced soon.
And not to be missed, the show will close out with a “Legendary DJ” set that will bring the beats with Battlegoat, Chuck Chillout, Clark Kent, Mannie Fresh, and Marley Marl.
