Joey Bada$$ has introduced “Impact MENTorship,” a new initiative designed to offer complimentary mentorship to Black men in the US and Puerto Rico.
As per the program’s official site, Black men aged 18 and above are eligible. Participants will benefit from both professional and personal advice. Applications for prospective mentees will commence on October 15.
On Tuesday, October 10, the rapper shared the news through an Instagram post.
The initiative provides one hour each month over the course of a year. Jaylen Brown from the Boston Celtics, fashion guru Tremaine Emory, painter Jahlil Nzinga, hip hop artist JID and 19 Keys have been confirmed as mentors for the program.
As cited on Impact MENtorship’s website from a Brookings Institute study, “Black men have the highest unemployment rates of any race/gender group, and the lowest labor force participation and employment rates among men.”
In light of these statistics, programs like Impact MENtorship are not just essential, but pivotal in bridging gaps and fostering growth for Black men in today’s society.
