1500 Sound Academy is an innovative educational music school based in the city of Inglewood, California, co-founded by James Fauntleroy and Larrance Dopson along with Twila True.

The academy is dedicated to sharing essential music and industry skills to aspiring talents from the local community. Their mission is to focus on students of color across the greater Los Angeles area, fostering a new generation of skilled creatives and music industry professionals.

With their extensive background in the music industry as Grammy Award winners, James Fauntleroy and Larrance Dopson bring invaluable expertise to the 1500 Sound Academy. Their impressive achievements in music production and songwriting make them exceptional mentors for aspiring creatives looking to break into the industry. 

Collaborating with some notable artists like Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Nipsey Hussle, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, and Bruno Mars, among others. Their impressive portfolio of work reflects their versatility and ability to work with a diverse range of artists across various genres.

In their efforts to make music education more accessible, in an  interview with Vibe Magazine, the duo, both Los Angeles natives themselves, highlighted their deep understanding of the economic conditions here in LA where many students of the 1500 Sound Academy reside. To address the issue of accessibility, they have taken proactive steps by offering education at a significantly reduced cost, making it more affordable and attainable for local residents. Through strategic partnerships with organizations like the Urban League and the Los Angeles Unified School District, they are reaching and engaging students from diverse backgrounds, ensuring that those who may not have had access to such educational opportunities before can now benefit from the enriching experience provided by the 1500 Sound Academy.
