Drake has been on an unstoppable run…since 2009.
The Toronto rapper is set to release his next studio album, For All The Dogs, on Sep. 22 a few weeks before the end of his North American IT’S ALL A BLUR tour. With no singles out yet, Drizzy’s peers and even his father are already defining the album as one of his best musical offerings.
“Some of the best Drake verses that I ever heard are on this album,” Lil Yachty told co host MitchGoneMad during an episode of A Safe Place Podcast. “…some of these verses, I’m just like bruh, what’s wrong with you.”
Yachty also touted the album as being some of Drake’s most performance oriented music, but he didn’t dive into the topic of the songs. Instead choosing to provide some context on Drake’s general songwriting process.
Yachty explained that Drake’s songwriting process stems from his real-life experiences, adding that the rapper would address some controversial topics in the album. The exact subject of these controversies is yet to be known, but in July of this year, Drake threw some shots at Pusha T and Pharrell on the song MELTDOWN, which was featured in Travis Scott’s album UTOPIA.
Yachty wasn’t the only one who praised the album, so did Dennis Graham, Drake’s father.
“I had the pleasure of sitting in my Son’s dressing room and listening to this new album and I must say that it is some of the best music that I’ve heard him do,” Graham said in an Instagram post on Wednesday (Sep. 6). “I am sure that every Drake fan throughout the entire world is going feel this one, everything about For All The Dogs is what we’ve been waiting for, Congratulations Son I really feel this one.”
Drake replied, “Thanks dad, I was so happy you loved it.”
For All The Dogs is Drake’s fourth consecutive album in three years and if this album is anything like his last three, then we can expect star-studded features, memorable one-liners, and viral music moments like Drake’s opening lines on Rich Flex.
