The 6th Annual Music N’ Media was a collector of culture and love to its West Coast’s artists. The one-day event was filled with pure passion and hustle.

On Saturday, July 16, 2022, Nina Deuce by Khrissy B hosted its 6th annual Music N’ Media in Leimert Park. The event was a day that brought awareness to up and coming local LA artists and entrepreneurs. It included live performances, cyphers, producers segments, and several panels.

The emcee of the event was Emcee Classiq, which kicked things off with performances from a variety of hip-hop and R&B artists like AJ the One, LA Wray, Fallon Favor, and Inglewood Tip to name a few. Each artist performed a four song set. Some even added their on twist to some classic records. Fallon Favors was one of them, giving his own take to the classic “Tyrone” by Erykah Badu. They all graced the stage performed with an abundance of passion and lively energy.

Those who attended the event were also able to witness a live producer beat segment hosted by the legendary hip-hop producer, DJ Battlecat. Some of the producers included Naseer, Sounds by TC Nick Banga, and Python P. Each producer prepared three to four beats for Battlecat to judge and give them constructive criticism. During the first half of the segment, producers would share who influenced their sound; the most notable artists mentioned were DJ Quik, Dr.Dre, and Kanye West. Throughout the listening segment the crowd was told to keep note of some of their favorite beats they heard. To me, the one who captivated the crowd with its talent was 14-year-old Long Beach native, Naseer. His beats captivated the true essence of West Coast rap. He even samples some beats from DJ Battlecat himself. At the end of the segment, DJ Battlecat graced each producers with words of encouragement and wished them well on their on music journey.

As the day progressed, guests also enjoyed different kind of vendors who offered their services. Some which were a 360 spin camera experience, funky jewelry from NitzByNat and cannabis lovers, Schoolfield Expressions. Food was also a main attraction by Gorilla Grub and OMG Dem Tacos.

Then, the “Faces Behind the Image” panel took place, which was hosted by Jasmin Knox which. That panel included Justin Haute of Behind The Scenes Network, Kacie Anderson-Brand Partnerships for Interscope Records and Soren Baker owner of Unique Access Ent. The foundation of the conversation was centered around the best way to market one’s brand. Each panelist broke down their day to day lives, ups and downs, and the valuable lessons they’ve learned on their journey while creating their own personal brands. The panelists also shared their insight on what companies look for when deciding if they want to partner with an artist. At the end, the panelists concluded by sharing words of encouragement in hopes that people left with an abundance of knowledge and understanding.

To close out the night, there was a live cypher presented by VITV hosted by Judon Harris with DJ Meez. The cypher featured once again more up and coming new artists like MilanLikeItaly, Janarius, and QTheMusic. The cypher allowed artists to give their best bars over some notable hip-hop beats. MilanLikeItaly even added her own spin on Tupac’s “Ambitionz of a Ridah.”

Overall, the 6th Annual Music N’ Media was a day full of love, passion, and courage. You can follow Nina Deuce by Khrissy B for everything Music N’ Media and more.
