Playboi Carti is infamous for canceling projects and he’s bringing that same energy this year. Ticketmaster listings for his upcoming, much anticipated Antagonist Tour appear “canceled,” while the rapper’s official website has listed all tour dates as “TBD.”
He announced the tour last year in July with a start date of September that year, but in classic Carti fashion, he postponed the tour a month before its start. Then, he postponed the tour again In January 2024.
Carti was set to tour Europe and the U.S. along with Ken Carson, Destroy Lonely, and Homixide Gang, who are all signed to his Opium record label. The arena tour would have stopped in Los Angeles later this year. Carti and his camp have not yet provided a reason for the abrupt cancellation of the tour.
Despite this tour cancellation, the Atlanta rapper has been consistently feeding his fans with features on Kanye West’s Vultures 1 album, music videos on YouTube, and a string of releases on the Opium Instagram account.
These songs seem to be teasing the release of a new full length album to follow up his culture-shifting Control, which dropped in 2020. But, Carti is shifting away from the sound and aesthetic of his last album, by ditching the baby voice for a deeper, still unnatural voice.
His latest tease of the album, which is dubbed I AM MUSIC, was on Mar. 21, when he shared a studio sneak peek of a new song featuring Metro Boomin’, Travis Scott, and Future. This is the eighth song he has revealed so far before the release of the project, which he announced in December of last year.
Fans are eager for I AM MUSIC, but they’re not holding their breath. Send us a tweet sharing your thoughts.
