Dacoury Dahi Natche, professionally known as DJ Dahi, has produced countless hits for some of LA’s finest. From Dom Kennedy’s “My Type of Party” to SZA’s “SOS” and longtime friend and musical comrade Kendrick Lamar’s “Money Trees”, his creative stamp is one that will make a project go down in history as an iconic work of art.
Now, Dahi, who’s credited in Film and American Studies is partnering with Onyx Collective, Proximity Media, and This Machine to create the documentary “Anthem”.
According to Deadline, the documentary follows the Inglewood producer with composer Kris Bower “traveling across America to create a new sound, inspired by what our country’s national anthem might be if written in today’s time.”
The US national anthem [Star-Spangled Banner] is said to have been inspired by the Battle of Fort Henry on September 14, 1814. It was originally written and inspired by lyricist-poet Francis Scott Key.
“Anthem” is directed by Peter Nicks alongside Ryan Coogler, Kris Bowers, Sean Havey, and Chris L. Jenkins with R.J. Cutler, Elise Pearlstein, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian serving as executive producers. The documentary’s projected release date is to be announced.
