If there was any reason to be outside this past week it was definitely to support Top Dawg Entertainment’s REASON.
On Friday, August 4, REASON hosted a packed house at his album early release listening party for his sophomore album “Porches,” making the event truly one for the books.
The listening party took place at the Complex, Buzzfeed studios in Hollywood, and the indoor-outdoor concept set the perfect vibe for the evening.
As soon as you stepped onto the grounds, the sounds of DJ D-Ron on the 1s & 2s filled the air, playing banger after banger throughout the event. From classic tunes like “Choppa Style” by Choppa and Master P to new hits like “Pound Town” by Sexxy Red, the crowd couldn’t stop vibing all night.
Local favorites like Ab-Soul, D Smoke, SiR, Nana, Xian Bell, and STIX were among the attendees, adding to the vibrant energy of the event.
The party was both interactive and immersive, offering an array of activities for the attendees. Outside, a pop-up basketball hoop and games like corn hole kept the fun going. Big B The Chef food truck served up some fire food, and a photo-op backdrop added to the excitement before entering the event.
Inside there was another photo op station that had REASON’s album cover as the backdrop and a chalkboard wall that became a canvas for attendees to share their social handles and messages to connect with one another through the language of art.
An open bar is always a nice touch to any event, and the night was made even more special with Marquis, the healthy and natural energy drink company, sponsoring the open bar and serving up delicious cocktails all night.
The album listening session began promptly at 10:30pm, and REASON took the stage to introduce his work. Addressing the crowd, he shared, “This album is all about love and understanding and that’s the biggest thing that the album is about”.

The album will have 17-tracks featuring artists like Doechii, Baby Tate, Kalanfrfr, SiR, London Monet, Dell The Dirty, Junii and label mates Zacari, and Ray Vaughn.
REASON took to social media to explain the album cover and told fans “if you love storytelling you’ll love this album, if you love intentional albums you’ll love this album, if you love high musicality you will love this album!”
REASON wrapped up the listening party with gratitude and appreciation.
The album is set to be released this Friday, August 11, and we’ll be sure to circle back with an album review.
