Growing up as a kid in Long Beach you dream about events like this. I remember watching The Box and seeing such people as Warren G, The Lady of Rage, Tha Dogg Pound, The Twinz and The Dove Shack. These artists along with Snoop helped set the soundtrack for life in the city by the sea. This festival was EVERYTHING for people like me, and being able to shoot it was even more! Then when you add in other legends like Bone Thugs, Slick Rick and Wu-Tang; I was in 80’s baby heaven! Making the event that much sweeter was seeing so many people of so many different races in attendance, and even better than that was that there were 0 problems! 2 stages, great vendors, and a backdrop that included the Queen Mary and the Pacific Ocean made for a memorable event! Events like this were long over due for a city that was cemented on the Hip Hop map back in the 90’s and hopefully is here to stay for years to come!
