On March 22nd R&B singer SZA serenaded fans with a medley of hits, at the closing of her “S.O.S” tour. Since releasing her sophomore album “S.O.S” back in December of 2022, SZA’s supporters were absolutely thrilled to see her being that the artist hasn’t toured in over six years. For the past few months SZA has been selling out arenas across Northern America SZA’s sold out tour, with the last shows being held at The Kia Forum in Inglewood, California.
20,000 of SZA’s most loyal fans came to see the star, being that this is her first headlining Arena Tour. Along with her beloved fans, celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Savannah James, Adele, and Justin Bieber were also in attendance.
Starting promptly at 9pm, the show was split into three acts, accumulating to twenty nine songs. With the most notable being Blind, Shirt, Smoking On My Ex, All The Stars featuring Kendrick Lamar, Kill Bill, and The Weekend.In each act, SZA performed each song in its entirety. Even the singer’s beloved fans noticed how great she did. Inglewood native and fan for over five years, Tiphani Jackson said, “I love how she performed each song in its entirety, most concerts I’ve been to the artist doesn’t do that. Included in those performances was stellar choreo from the singers dancers. As the show begins, a large black scene rises and SZA is sitting on the edge of the ocean backdrop, to create an illusion that she was on a diving board. As she sits she is serenely singing “PSA”. Once she was done, she then jumps off the diving board into the ocean(which In reality is the stage).
Straight into “Smoking My Ex Pack” fans lit up their phones and began singing so loudly, SZA stopped and said “Da** who hurt y’all.” As she performed the singer made sure all of her fans felt loved, she moved around every corner of the stage. There was even a high rise deck she would stand on so her supporters up high up could experience the star up close. Then “SMEP” ends and SZA serenades fans with an original version of Erykah Badu’s “Bag Lady.” During this performance we can see Adele looking over and singing along with SZA in complete awe of her.
During her set and wardrobe changes fans were entertained by a soulful ocean backdrop, and SZA’s very talented band. The stars’ breath control while singing and dancing was absolutely perfect. While the entire show was wonderfully done, the second to the last act was definitely one for the books.
Dressed in a beautiful White bohemian style gown, the singer got into a floating bloat. As she stepped into the boat, it then began to ascend into the air. Singing to fans from the top of the room while moving around the ceiling . SZA got very vulnerable with fans, sharing that her song “Nobody Gets Me” is about an ex fiancé who broke her heart terribly.
Towards the end of the show , SZA performed her 2017 hit “The Weekend.” She then thanked everyone who attended the Forum by saying “ I love y’all. Thank You for making me look cool in front of my parents. Be Safe.” Overall, the S.O.S Tour was 10/10 and definitely worth the wait.
