A behind-the-scenes weapon for many of the industry’s hottest names, Devin Malik is ready to step into the limelight. As he officially announces he’s signed to TDE as a producer, the SoCal producer-turned-rapper is also gearing up to drop his eclectic debut project DEADSTOCK this Friday, June 28th.
From gritty synths on the opening track “BANG YOUR HEAD” featuring ScHoolboy Q to jazzy 60s inspired piano riffs on “TRAUMA QUEEN” to bouncy tracks like “BACKSTAGE,” the project spans from moshpit anthems to psychedelic tunes as Devin hops on the mic. It’s really an experimental exploration of the wide-range of sonics that can live within hip hop. Devin’s experiences working with some of rap’s favorite indie darlings and legendary heavy hitters is reflected on DEADSTOCK.
According to Devin himself, “DEADSTOCK is an audible horror film focusing on themes of lust, rage, and comedy, directed by Devin Malik.” You can really hear inspiration from the very best qualities of all the artists he’s admired or worked with.
