Top Three Tracks Of February 2018

Music must “age well” with time because the second month of 2018 brought hit after hit. Narrowing it down to three tracks was a challenge, and yet, here we are.

Mike Rebel had his own calendaring preferences in mind with his releases, but chose to drop “Paint Me In God” featuring T-Pain rather quickly due to the urgency of the message behind the single. Unfortunately, there are situations where racism rears its ugly head, and in his humble opinion, the H&M advertisement featuring the little boy in a controversial hoodie was not a move in the right direction. The passion oozing out of every word in “Paint Me In God” from the duo will send chills down your spine, and it’s worthy of a listen.

As a devoted fan of Hip Hop, if you’re looking for more of that hardcore-turn-up kind of vibe, “Ok Bitch” by 2 Chainz is up your alley. The MC never fails to bring the heat in his music, and the beat drop is inevitably a memorable one. Ok 2 Chainz, ok! Listen to “Ok Bitch” below.

One of Dreamville’s very own, Cozz made waves with his project Effected when it dropped, and the tracks were a true representation of what he was aiming to accomplish. One of the joints off the album that effortlessly stands out is “Bout It” featuring Garren. Not only is he able to address his rising fame, but he also gives listeners a single to bump your head to. Listen to it below!

There you have it. You have the song with a deep message, you have the song that you can go crazy under, and then you have the song that has a little bit of both.
