Inglewood was once a physical home for early iterations of Home Grown Radio. From recording inside Chuck Dizzleâs apartment to the grounds of Hollywood Park, Home Grown has over 15 years of highlighting local artists on their rise.
Blxst closing out the Zig-Zag stage, showed us home grown-artists are deserving of a prime time slot at the worldâs largest hip hop festival.
Right before Blxst took the stage, we asked him what home grown meant to him.
ââHomegrown is everything. That’s where it all started. One of my first interviews ever. DJ Hed, come on, man. You already know how we rockin Chuck Dizzle. It’s love forever, man. That’s home. In a long form question, it mean the heart. That’s the heart to me.â
Throughout the Rolling Loud weekend we ran into many Home Grown friends so we asked them,âWhat does Home Grown mean to you?â
Gina Views: âHomegrown mean when you really from there, you feel me? Like me. To quote Tupac, âI’m the rose that grew from the concrete.â Homegrown in my mind,âIt ain’t on me, it’s in me. You feel me?â I didn’t fly here, I grew here. I stole that thoughâŠ
âChow Lee: We keepin this shit in the camp, keepin this shit at home, you know what I’m saying. This shit comin straight out the basement, you know what I’m saying.
âEric Bellinger: From the soil, you know, I mean the ground up. Grass roots, to the point where you can’t be shaken, because you’re part of the foundation.
T-Rell from Figgmunity World: âStraight from the ghetto. Straight from the streets, man. Organic. You feel me?
âElijah Banx: They’ve been a voice for us when we couldn’t be a voice for ourselves. And they definitely been in the forefront of making sure that these up and coming artists get a chance to be discovered, heard and appreciated.
âA.D. from Figgmunity World: I didn’t get in the house til like 7 in the morning, so I’m on fumes, but I’m making it happen. That’s what homegrown is all about. I’ve been knowing them n- for a long time, and I don’t even care if I can’t say n-. Y’all better either edit that shit out and just let that shit fly.
Eastside K-Boy: Homegrown is everything to me. That’s family, them my boys, and we are homegrown. This is the West Coast.
To another home-grown Rolling Loud this past weekend, we hope to be back again 2026!
