It’s an overwhelming process watching the artists nowadays knock every track out of the park, but there’s a job to be done, and that’s narrowing it down to three bangers per month. August may as well stand for out-of-this world content because it’s about to be lit on Earth and otherwise.
First on the lit list (it’s a new thing I’m trying out, go with it) is Travis Scott; he casually rocked listeners’ world with the release of Astroworld. Now, the whole album is fire. But, add The Weeknd to the mix and it’s a recipe full of vocals and “goosebumps” all over your body. “Wake Up” takes the win if you’re looking for a chill yet space-like experience. Nicki Minaj has always represented the Queen title, and what better way to vocalize that even more by naming a whole project that. She bodied each track to the fullest, whether it was being more on the melodic side or spitting bars like the gangsta she is. “Ganja Burn” clearly fuels the energy on the lit list, along with the visual that dropped for the single. Let’s all admit it, if there ain’t some hood in the Hip Hop world, it feels off. YG came through as the gangster guru that he’s known as, with the drop of his project called Stay Dangerous. “Bulletproof” is one of the shorter tracks, but with Jay 305 as a feature, the duo know how to rep the streets.
