Lyric Jones returns today with her latest work of art, her new album Closer Than They Appear.
Phonte of Little Brother serves as the executive producer on the project which also includes features from the North Carolina duo, Vic Mensa, Phil Beaudreau, and Sy Smith.
The Boston MC/singer took to social media to share how special the project meant to her.
The title Closer Than They Appear serves as a motif inspired by half the fine print on the side view mirrors of vehicles: “objects in mirror are closer than they appear”. The symbolism of the phrase highlights movement, heading to a destination. It weaves a web connecting many things in my life, with people & milestones especially in my music career. Although I’m getting older, lately things have surprised me, and have been closer and more attainable than I thought. I also see myself as an object in the mirror that may be closer to my breakthrough and self- actualization than I think (or even others may think). The title serves as a affirmation in a way.
