Some artists introduce themselves with one song. Others build momentum record by record. Los Angeles native Mistress of Rap (MOR) has been doing the latter, and her latest release, “Uh Huh” featuring Mark Lux, feels like another major step forward in what has been a steadily growing run.
Home Grown Radio first got a glimpse of that momentum during a recent UNDRGRND Magazine livestream featuring Chuck Dizzle as a special guest. During the show, independent artists submitted music for feedback, and MOR’s submission—“Uh Huh”—earned the highest rating of the night. Long before the official release, the record had already made an impression.
That moment was no accident. MOR has been putting in work for years. Born and raised between Los Angeles and Pasadena, she studied Communications and Audio Production at Howard University before continuing her musical development through New York University’s Summer Institute of Music Technology. Since launching her professional career, she’s carved out her own lane as an artist, producer, engineer, and curator dedicated to amplifying independent Los Angeles talent.
Her 2025 project Boots N The Dust turned heads with its raw energy and unapologetic voice, while follow-up single “Bang That Sh!t” proved she wasn’t slowing down. Now, “Uh Huh” feels like the record that solidifies her growing presence. Featuring Mark Lux and produced by D.K. the Punisher.
As a Black female artist who prides herself on challenging traditional narratives within hip-hop, MOR’s music has become synonymous with empowerment and authenticity. Her sound balances nostalgia with modern energy, and with each release, she continues to establish herself as one of Los Angeles’ emerging voices worth paying attention to.
If the response from the UNDRGRND Magazine livestream was any indication, listeners already know what time it is.
