Jay Ward Delivers His ‘Triniti’ Project

Nov 14, 2021

The One And Only.

Los Angeles is saturated with rappers. This we know. And sometimes, it can be difficult to sift through the sea of talent putting themselves out there to be heard. It’s time-consuming and tedious listening. But some artists make all the effort worth it. This time, it’s Jay Ward

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jay Ward made his mark in music four years ago, dropping his first project Stepping Stones. Produced predominately by 1500Boy (byway of 1500 or Nothin’) the project seems dedicated to Jay Ward’s faith, city, and the heart on his sleeve. Now, Wardy graduates to his next level with his faith forefront.

â€œThe same nigga, with the same vision, on the same mission”

Triniti is Jay Ward’s second official project packed with substance. For starters, Triniti has a double meaning: (1) a representation of The Father, The Son, & The Holy Spirit. (2) It’s three of Jay Ward’s projects condensed into one. Also a representation of the aforementioned into one, into him. Which the album work perfectly reflects.

Triniti’s inspiration was drawn from Ward’s life experiences in love and business. Authentic. With a note to being around well-known artists who are successful. It reminds him that it’s all tangible. No doubt it’ll be at his fingertips one day soon. He’s got the talent. Now, it’s about the right plays & opportunities. And Triniti is a homerun! Continue below as we take a closer look into Triniti to understand Wardy’s vision.

“I went through hell and back really just to say it’s mine,

So let me save ya time,

These the laws of the great divine,

I thank the Lord for creative minds…”

1.

“You Lied” opens the project, taking us straight to church with a message. The recipient, an undependable love interest who just doesn’t know how to hold Wardy down through trying times. But that’s okay because he’ll be just fine.

2.

At the end of the day, he’s a “Trooper” with a big heart, but it’s in a box for now. Here Wardy lets us know that whatever comes his way in life and love he’s going to thug it out and come out on the other side. With everything brand new.

3.

Dammed if you do, dammed if you don’t. Jay Ward asks what they “Want From Me,” a layered head knocker. Wardy smoothly delivers Triniti’s mission statement over a groovy Blxst production. His statement: I’m grinding for this. Growing into a boss. Learning and elevating with no time for bullshit.

*Take notice of the third chorus where Wardy starts yelling it. You can hear his spirit!

4.

After getting a ‘lil rowdy we’re smoothed all the way out with “Watch” — an infectious twinkled jazzy vibe — where we’re transported to lover’s galaxy. The vibes here are unmatched. But be careful ladies, don’t lose that bonnet!

5.

Next, we’re elevated to the fifth track, floor, and vibe where Jay Ward holds our “Reservation” to the good life. Of course, he actually means for his special lady, but here, we’re at the climax with the perfect tempo and TEMPO.

*Reminiscent of Kellz’s “Freaky In The Club”

6.

On “I Don’t Know” Wardy scales it down allowing us a glimpse of his vulnerable side. Feeling like something is too good to be true, so like any one of us, he questions it. “Tell me what you see in me…I’m no good for you, you’re too good for me..” He’s for moving forward with his honey but makes it clear he won’t allow his heart to be toyed with.

7.

“Perfect” (ft. Lil Deuce) is where we receive the project’s first feature. Jay and Deuce take the moment to reflect on how far they’ve come. Here they lay down a prayer to their ambition and vision. Almost serving as a continuation from their previous collaboration “Why” living on Deuce’s Demons & Angels project.

8.

Ambitious missions require sacrifice but, “At What Cost”? This is where Wardy tests courage and faith. Do you have the willingness to go after what you want? Are you willing to be judged, used & ridiculed to reap the fruits of faith? Biblical af.  “Chin up, chest out / see where that shit landed us/ That’s why I trust In God cause I know he won’t  abandon us / At least I hope, but I’ll bet it all on faith/ I still gotta get it if I really want that wraith…”

9.

With faith, hope, and hard work anything is possible. Plus, resiliency is in our blood. “Young Black Boy” is a model of that. It’s a reminder to Black boys growing into men to follow their dreams. Black Boy Joy is real and obtainable. Washing us in hope: “Black Boy grind, Black Boy Shine, Black Boy did it on Black Boy time…” Wardy says it’s the realist shit he ever wrote. Agreed.

*Note: Wardy uses a singer on the song to uplift the track. The way she sings it sounds like she’s covering him with love and support. Like in a relationship, she has his back.

10.

Wardy closes the project with his last feature, “Around The World” ft. the homie Rucci & rising female rap duo Su’lan. In the context of the project, it speaks back to the relationship with a significant other. Simply put, slide for me, I’ll slide for you. So we can reach the best version of us. This one seems like the sequel to Wardy & Rucci’s “Coming Around” on Rucci’s Puppy Love.

Ultimately, Wardy is welcoming us on his journey. As he navigates life through faith, purpose, and passion. Download Triniti for your own interpretation and get to know Jay Ward.
